Prof. Smart Sarpong has revealed his recent survey on the impending presidential election involving the flagbearers of the two main political parties, the New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress.

The Professor who is a Senior Reseacher at the Kumasi Technical University released his Regional statistics as it stands now regarding the general elections during Peace FM's Friday's "Kokrokoo" panel discussion show.

He debunked claims that Ex-President John Dramani Mahama who heads the National Democratic Congress is leading in 12 Regions as projected by some research institutions.

According to him, this cannot be true, hence advising his colleague researchers to take their time to conduct their surveys.

"...they should not make a mistake to draw conclusions on sample...Conclusions are not drawn based on samples. Learn the next level; the next level is to subject the data to what we call inferential statistics", he said.

Prof. Smart Sarpong christening his research findings as "prove me wrong" survey, disclosed that Mr. Mahama is on the lead in 9 Regions while Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia leads in seven.

He asserted that Dr. Bawumia leads in the Ashanti, Western, Bono, Ahafo, Central, Eastern and North East Regions and the rest goes to Mahama.

However, he noted the number of votes the candidates will poll from their respective Regions will determine the winner in the December 7 election.

"These seven Regions have clearly shown a lead for the NPP and the nine has shown a lead for the NDC. Who will win elections 2024, evidence from Science and data, is the extent of gains that the NPP will get from these seven Regions and the extent of gains that the NDC will get from the nine Regions that are showing lead in their favor", he established.
