I’ll Rebuild Our Railway Lines - Bawumia Pledges

The Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says developing major railways in the country will accelerate the Ghana’s progress.

In view of this, he has outlined his “bold plans” to develop three major railway lines to boost the country’s transport network.

"One of my priorities in terms of infrastructure development is railway development”, Dr. Bawumia said at a stakeholders’ engagement at the Atwima Mponua Constituency at the start of his Ashanti Regional tour on Monday.

He continued; "It is very important for our country because if we are blessed with bauxite and we don't have enough railway lines, it is problematic. When we develop our railways, it will really help our country.”

"There are three major railway lines that I want to focus on; from Tema in Greater Accra to Kumasi and then from Kumasi to Takoradi and then from Awaasi, through Nyinahin to Eduade. We are going to do that railway for you”,
Dr. Bawumia stressing, adding his government will also develop another railway from Adum to Akaase.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of the railway lines stating "we are constructing roads and we are not done yet but I will also focus on railways because that is where the transformation is going to come from.

"The railway is very important for our country. We will take it from Accra through Kumasi to the North and we will explore bauxite, iron ore and all the deposits. This is what will bring the needed transformation."
