Ghanaians Advised on Purchasing Goods Online from Unconfirmed Sources - Cyber Zone GH

The Cyber Zone GH Security has observed a surge in online scam facing buyers who purchase goods online and cautioned them to be extra careful in their dealings.

This follows how persons of influence are being used to sway online users to make fraudulent investments or to pay fees for non-existing contracts or also to get items.

In the first half of this year alone over 900 cases of online scam and its related activities were reported.

Speaking with Peace FM News, the CEO of Cyber Zone GH, David Gyedu advised participants who normally purchase goods and products online; Instagram or Facebook, to at least go to the comments section to read and find out what people have said about the products or whether the comments section has been disabled too buyers to ignore such profiles.

He again advised buyers not to pay before purchasing goods online, but rather pay on delivery.

He again advised buyers who buy with their credit cards to use links from the seller and it also ATTPS or it has a padlock on the site.

David Gyedu made it known that as part of efforts to protect the unsuspecting public, the cyber security authority is asking the general public to avoid dealing with non-verified profiles online.
